The Norden Club

A members club that does not feel like one.

The Norden Club is a private members club in Copenhagen's Frederiksstaden district, housed in a landmarked neoclassical building that had sat empty for eleven years. The challenge was significant — the historic facade and primary rooms had to be preserved in their entirety, while the interior needed to function as a contemporary hospitality venue for 400 members.

We worked with the building's existing grandeur rather than against it. Original plasterwork, parquet floors, and marble fireplaces were restored to their original condition and left to speak for themselves. New interventions — the bar, the library, the private dining rooms — were designed in a deliberately quieter register so that the historic fabric always reads as primary.
