About The Project
A house that listens to its landscape.
Villa Strand sits on a rocky outcrop on the island of Tjøme, facing the Oslofjord. The brief was deceptively simple — a family home that felt rooted in its site without competing with it. We responded with a low horizontal volume that follows the contour of the land, opening entirely to the south through full-height glazing and closing to the north with solid timber-clad walls.
The interior continues the same logic. Materials are limited to three — raw concrete, oiled oak, and honed limestone — used consistently throughout so that the spaces read as one continuous experience rather than a sequence of decorated rooms. The result is a house that is quiet in the best possible sense.
